Derby Kids’ Camp owns all its own equipment, marquees and tents to service a fully operational ‘canvas village’ for five weeks each year, accommodating more than 450 people over a 5 week period!
Therefore, throughout the year, our merry band of equipment volunteers spend a few hours each month (usually Sunday mornings) to ensure that every tent, marquee, waterproof coat and jigsaw puzzle is ship-shape for the following year!
You don’t have to be built like Samson or be handy with a hammer and saw (though it's great if you are!) - there’s always something for everyone to do - big or small, old or young!

We're always on the look out for skilled tradesmen and women; perhaps you're a carpenter, electrician, plumber or gas engineer... Or perhaps you're simply brilliant with tents, canvas and marquees - and can spare a few hours once a month to support the team.
All our equipment is stored in a central Derby warehouse location, allowing easy access for the equipment team.
During the build and takedown of Summer Camp we are often supported by groups such as the ATC, scouts and companies arranging a team building or corporate social responsibility exercise. If you or someone you know is part of a team / group of people who may be able to help us put together our canvas village at the beginning and / or end of the summer, we would love to hear from you!
