Giving kids a break

Derby Kids' Camp needs your votes in the Lloyds Bank Community Fund!

Date: 17.09.2014

Derby Kids’ Camp is one of four charities shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014 in Derby. With the support of the local community, DKC has the chance to be awarded a grant of up to £3,000 – a significant amount for a smaller charity, which would make a real difference in providing holidays to disadvantaged children in the Derby area.

The award would be used to replace a children’s sleeping tent, providing a dry and safe space for 7 children each week, and a food storage marquee. Both of these tents are in urgent need of replacement, and are completely vital to the ‘canvas village’ which houses around 300 children and 150 volunteers each summer.

DKC Chairman Chris Edwards said, “This is a great opportunity for Derby Kids’ Camp to win enough money to fund further holidays for young children in need from the Derby area. We’re asking the Derby community to get behind our campaign simply by voting via a text, a hashtag on Twitter or by voting online. Every single vote for Derby Kids’ Camp is one step closer to funding more much needed children’s holidays in 2015.”

Votes for Derby Kids’ Camp can be made by texting “Vote GFJ” to 61119 (standard message rate); tweeting “ #CommFund GFJ”; online at; or in Lloyds Bank branches in St Peters Street, Irongate, Allenton, Ilkeston, Long Eaton or Stapleford.
