Giving kids a break

Village Club Spondon support local children

Date: 15.06.2014

Derby Kids' Camp representatives Chris & Michelle Edwards were invited along to The Village Social Club in Spondon this week to be presented with a cheque to fund further children's holidays this summer.

Pauline Jennings, a member of The Village Social Club's committee presented Michelle with a cheque to help provide free holidays to disadvantaged young children from the Spondon area.

Pauline said, "We are very pleased to be able to support such a locally-based charity which regularly supports children within our own village. It's a great pleasure to donate money to an organisation run entirely by volunteers and to have the knowledge that all the money we donate goes directly to the costs of the children's holidays."

Derby Kids' Camp provides over 300 free holidays every year for disadvantaged children in the Derby City and surrounding areas and this year is expected to support  approximately 15 children from Spondon.

DKC member Michelle said, "It is always a great pleasure to meet our sponsors in person and to tell them all about the amazing work of our team and organisation. A massive thank you to Pauline and everyone at the Village for their generous donation."
