Giving kids a break

Elizabeth Michael recruitment funds Summer Holidays

Date: 09.06.2014

Derby Kids' Camp Chairman Chris Edwards visited local recruitment agency Elizabeth Michael Associates this week and was hugely honoured to be presented with a cheque to fund 10 much-needed children's holidays this summer.

Presented by Managing Director John Hyde, the money will fully-fund free holidays for 10 young children from the Derby / Derbyshire area who will benefit from what is probably their only break in the year from challenging social, domestic or financial circumstances.
John told us,

"The team at Elizabeth Michael are proud to be associated with Derby Kids' Camp for all the wonderful work that they do. We are really glad to do our part for this amazing project, but the real work is down to the incredible effort of the team of volunteers who give so much of their time and energy year after year to give the children an experience they will aways remember."

DKC Chairman Chris added, "Key to the Derby Kids' Camp strategy is to ensure that every penny of the donations we receive is spent directly on the children's holidays. Thanks to the commitment of more than 150 Kids' Camp volunteers each year we have no wage or expenses costs. So it means a lot to us to receive this generous donation from John and the Elizabeth Michael team; we'll make absolutely sure that the children have a brilliant summer break thanks to your kindness!"

Derby Kids' Camp provides free holidays to more than 300 disadvantaged children every year, providing them with an exciting, fun adventure holiday in the great outdoors. For many of these children, this will be their only holiday throughout the year and, for many, the first holiday they have ever had.

DKC Summer Camp runs for 5 weeks over the summer school holidays, with 60 children and 31 trained volunteers attending Camp each week.

All funding for Derby Kids' Camp is thanks to the generous support of local businesses, the local community and grant-providing trusts. The Charity is always looking for new and additional funding to ensure the future of these valuable childhood experiences and to ensure continuing improvements to the service and comfort to the children.
